News Release from Town of Linn Police Department
On July 14 at 3:02pm Town of Linn Fire/Rescue and Police, and Paratech ambulance were dispatched to W3995 Glen Fern Lane for a vehicle vs pedestrian accident with injuries. The State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit was also called to assist in the investigation.
Vehicle driver Michael Tissing, 55 y/o of Arlington Heights, IL, was entering the driveway at the above address, and did not see 6 y/o Samuel Vainist of Glen Ellyn, IL sitting in the driveway, and ran over him with his pick up truck. Tissing remained at the scene and also rendered aid to Vainisi while waiting for the arrival of EMS personnel.
Flight for Life was called to meet the Paratech ambulance at the Mercy Walworth Medical Center.
At 3:54pm, medical staff advised Vainisi's parents that their son had succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is still under investigation, however, alcohol is not a factor, and no charges have been filed at this stage of the investigation.
